Wikimedia & Education enthusiasts,
Join us for our next EduWiki Knowledge Showcase (
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_%26_Education_User_Group/Showcase)
on Friday, November 10, at 10 am UTC (
https://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1699610400). We'll focus on fun ways of
engaging with Wikimedia & Education, featuring two representatives from
Northern and Western Europe:
- Mathilde Louis, education project manager at Wikimédia France, will
introduce you to Wikeys, the pedagogical game that teaches the 5 pillars of
Wikipedia. She will explain the genesis of the game, its advancement after
a year and her hopes for its future development. She will also mention its
potential within the movement, including its translation.
- Galder Gonzalez Larrañaga, Wikimedian from the Basque Country and
project manager at the Basque Wikimedians User Group. Six years ago, the
BWUG started a project to improve content that may be used by students, and
we did it involving educators and students from universities and secondary
schools. Now we are working on Open Education Resources, with our brand new
project Ikusgela.

Hi everyone,
If you are connected to any extra curricular wikimedia organization
anywhere in the world, you can list your organization here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Extracurricular_Wikimedia_organizations
This will help us to know each other, increase cross-cultural collaboration
among educational institution based extracurricular wikimedia organizations
and help us to get an overview of how many extracurricular wikimedia
organizations are operating across the globe.
Just make sure that your organization is based in any educational
institution, run by the students or the alumni themselves and the
organization is open to the students of that particular educational
institution.
Best,
Rafi

Hello everyone!
At Wikimedia Polska, we run a special program for teachers working in
school libraries (in Poland, each school has its own library and a
librarian is also a teacher). The Wikiteka project
<https://wikiszkola.pl/wikiteka/>is already recognizable, we are invited to
conferences to talk about it. I will be speaking again soon, but this time *I
was also asked to give an example of school libraries from abroad.*
Therefore, I am asking you *to complete this survey *about primary,
secondary and high schools` situation. You can also give this to teachers /
school librarians you know. Here is the link:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfELe9mD1k_v9FLiZv6_U6nMmTI-FDSEOK…
This will help me a lot, but of course I don't have much time ;)
*My next e-mail will include English summary about Wikiteka project.*
*For those, who can`t use google forms, I wrote questions below. If you
would like to support this quick research, please copy those question and
paste into separate e-mail together with your answers. *
*My e-mail: klara.sielicka(a)wikimedia.pl <klara.sielicka(a)wikimedia.pl>*
*At first:* please give link and address (town/country) of the school you
are referring to.
Please mention the age group of the students at this school. Then answer
these questions:
*Q1*. Do schools in your country typically have libraries within the school
premises, or do they use libraries located outside of the school? If so,
for what age group of students?
*Q2.* For schools that have libraries inside, could you briefly describe
what the library space looks like and how it's organized? You can attach
photos!
*Q3.* Can you explain the work organization within these libraries?
*Q4*.If students in your country use libraries outside of school, could you
share why and how they access these external libraries?
An*d the last one*: if you know about any Wikipedia/ open education
activities going on in those libraries, please write down some examples
for me.
*Thank you alll in advance!*
*And once again the link to the survey:*
