PS : a comment
about the checkuser policy. Afaik, it is done. I asked
comments a week ago, and though Taw has not removed the fact he thought
it "terribly dangerous", I read no real opposition to it and several
supports.
The two opposers were Taw and myself, who have actually used the tool
and have experience of its social effects. And I did comment on the
policy at length. What are you counting as "real opposition"?

Most of your comments were done *before* a week ago, when I made a full
update of the proposal. Since then, I do not think you have voiced any
major opposition to the current proposal. You had a week to do so. The
only major comments I heard from the english arbcom was that ***I*** was
to slow to make that policy go live and that ***I*** was blocking the
decision making, issue on which I already commented quite clearly.
So please.... if there are some stuff you STILL do not agree with,
please put it in major caps on the talk page now and clearly mention you
are the one responsible from the decision not being made.
As for Taw, his opinion was added at the top of the policy at least 2
weeks ago, if not more. Taw has not taken the time to review the changes
nor to make any comments since the changes were done. Are we to let
thousands of editors wait just because of one person complaining once
and never commenting since then ? I do not think so.
A last point : yes, there are still no public log. I support these logs
to be made public after being stripped of the private stuff. Now, as
soon as we find a developer ready to take care of it, I sure will be
happy. And I am sure others than myself will be happy. But right now, we
do not have anyone visibly interested or having the time to do so. I
suggest that those interested in the log clearly explain what they want
as output in the log... and we'll collectivement ask the developers if
one would be ready to take care of it.
But right now, we do NOT have this log. And people are ASKING for the
check user status to go live ! So, should we further delay for weeks if
not months for the check user status to be accessible by anyone but the
english arbcom (by Jimbo's decision) and the steward, just because the
logs are missing ? Are should we take temporarily a solution, which may
not be perfect but at least, help all those who can not fight vandalism
so well because they lack the tool ?
Well, I prefer the temp solution, with no log. And I hope we have the
log in the future. I do not know what else I can tell you. I am not
developer and I definitly can not develop the log for you. If you can,
,please help !!!!
