Greetings,
I’m organizing an edit-a-thon next Sunday at a gallery in San Francisco centered around the theme of Art and Bureaucracy. This event is part of art show I am part of called Office Work http://officework.space/ that is exploring the intersections of art, bureaucracy, labor, and knowledge. We’ll be editing and adding articles related to art movements and administration, organizational systems, offices, bureaucracy, labor theory, and more, and helping newcomers familiarize themselves with Wikipedia’s guidelines to help them begin contributing to the encyclopedia.
Here are the details and link to meet up page, we’d love to see you there! If anyone on this list is interested in participating as a point-person for helping newcomers get acclimated, please send me an email.
What: Art + Bureaucracy Edit-a-thon
Date: Sunday 5 April
Time: 1 – 5
Location: StoreFrontLab http://www.storefrontlab.org/ – 337 Shotwell St., San Francisco
Meet up page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/San_Francisco/Art%2BBureaucra...
Note that as part of the surrounding art exhibition, we’ll also be taking surveys from people during the event about their experiences with Wikipedia (as readers and editors) that will then be shared in the gallery and summarized in the outcomes section of the meet up page.
Cheers!
niki
