Late last year, WLA[1] was organized. ghana uploaded some 800 images[2]. We're looking for a jury to select the best 5 images.
Myself can't be a part of jury, same as others on our team, because we took part in the event.
We'll really appreciate if we could get volunteers to help in selecting the best images from this community.

Yes you collected some 800 images. shortlist them into some 100 and then give to jury. that will make things easier for them.

I wonder if the list was first revised to eliminate all those pictures that don't stand a chance to win the contest (eg: tilted, blurred, not listed monuments, etc).
That list then should be sent to the jury. It might be a lot of pictures, but I believe that's the jury's job. If you do the preselection, then you're being part of the jury.

The UK jury, of three, looked through around 500 images (cut down from the original 7000 submissions). That's not too much work for them provided they are all experienced with image evaluation and have the images downloaded so that they can use efficient rating software such as Adobe Lightroom.

+1 I don't think it's so important to trim such list before providing to the jury.
From my experience as both a judge and a shortlister in WLM for the last 3
years, the ideal number to give to the jury is between 200 and 300. It should be very easy to get down to that number from 800, if you remove the images with technical problems (resolution too low, watermark, bad focus, extremely poor lighting, incorrect subject, etc.), you should be able to reduce it to 200–300 in half an hour or so.

Can we have more information about the judging process (deadlines, selection process, how many people will you have in your jury, any tools you already have ready for the juries to use)?
About shortlisting:
It all depends on your tools. If juries have an effective rating tool, they can check all the images in a multi-staged process without the need of external aid (i.e. the organizers).
In Colombia, for example, juries checked themselves all the participating images (about 2800 in WLM2014) without much trouble. In fact, the most difficult stages were, by far, the last ones, when they had to pick the top 10 among a bunch of good "surviving" images.
In your specific case, in order to mantain the integrity of the contest, I would suggest you NOT to process the images before the juries do it, as you told us that several people in your team also participated in the competition.

Deadline? Yes if all complete and the best images ready before the 30 of this months.
Selection process? Hmm, no idea this part. But the process revolves around getting best images submitted from ghana.
Number of people in jury? A couple of persons have showed interest. But I'll be working on trimming down amount of images ( by removing the ones that can't be part of the best images ) before handing over to the jury we're yet to settle on.

I think the processing will be specifically about removing images that don't even qualify being on commons. The criteria for uploads of images for the contest, some deviated totally.
The contest was about food. I saw an image of a football team. Just bogus image, in relation to what the contest is about.
Those are the kinda of garbage I'll try eliminating before handing over to the jury.
