Hi,
With most of the usability issues ironed out the last two weeks with the countries that were testing the tool, I have been preparing for deployment for the rest of the countries. Unfortunately, due to persona issues I won't have much time to take care of each installation and configuration as I planned (at least for a couple of weeks), so what I did is roll out all of the installations at
http://wlm.wmflabs.org/<country code>
At the moment no tool (except for those that were testing it these weeks) have users, so the first thing I'll ask every coordinator in every country listed at
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2013/JuryToo...
ist to register in your own tool using the following URL
http://wlm.wmflabs.org/<country code>/register
I'll take care of promoting the first user registered in every tool as admin of the tool in around 24 hours, which will let that user configure the tool. For countries that are going to test this only, and expect to use the tool on October, feel free to configure it for testing purposes since the tool can be reset.
One unimplemented feature that came as a suggestion from Michael Maggs (and was something Lodewijk suggested on our original conversation too) is not to decide the number of rounds upfront, but rather have a way to start a round when needed. I didn't find the time to implement this feature, yet the tool is able to feedback from its own output so if your country does not know exactly how many rounds you will need, just configure the tool for one round, and you'll be able to export all images that meet some criteria, I'll reset the tool, and you can use that output for another round.
All questions to my e-mail to keep the mailing list clear, please.

Sorry List, false start, I had to make some installation and configure most of the databases before sending this e-mail and forgot to. I've now fixed this, so if you tried before and were unable to see the registering form, try again.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi David,
Thanks for running Jury Tool. I had created an acoount and tried to log in, but I got this message: *Oops! An Error Occurred** **The server returned a "403 Forbidden".** * * Something is broken. Please e-mail us at [email] and let us know what you were doing when this error occurred. We will fix it as soon as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.*
What should I do?
I think after registration, you first need to be promoted to admin, before you can log in. This has to happen by David - so you might have to have some hours patience.
Best, Lodewijk (just guessing though - so feel free to correct)

That's correct. I've just granted admin rights to all accounts that were registered first on each tool so all of you who reached the 403 Forbidden error should now be able to configure your tools by navigating to the usual URL

Is it possible to change settings any time later on the same page http://wlm.wmflabs.org/<country code>/config or it is possible only one time?
Thanks!

Technically, just one time. In practice, I can always reset the tool to let you configure it again.
David E. Narvaez
It would be easier if country admin could reset. Organizers need to try different configuration options, test how they work.

I just promoted another batch of admin users so if you were having the 403 error you can try again now. I'll be doing this on a regular basis and will not notify the list for practical purposes so if you get the 403 error just try again the next day.
I will reply to feature/translation requests in the next day or two.

About features - is it possible to distribute photos between jury members? So every every photo is seen by J jury members (J=2), and each jury members sees J*Number of fotos/Jury size pictures. Pictures are distributed randomly among jury members, and each auhtor's pictures distributed evenly among jury members.
Also can jury tool support special nominations? They will contain nomimation specific subsets of photos and will have specific juries.

There's no notion of author in the jury tool, so there's currently no way to do the second request. The first request is interesting and should be doable but I have to put other features in top priority since the behavior you are requesting can be manually achieved right now by monitoring the stats of each juror.
Also can jury tool support special nominations? They will contain nomimation specific subsets of photos and will have specific juries.
That is just another round of your contest, so you can always create a new round and load it with a fixed set of images (like a plain text file or a commons category), make it invitational, invite the set of jurors you need, etc. The only drawback (or I don't know if this is a drawback for you) is that you cannot run two rounds at the same time, so it would be something you do after running the whole contest.
David E. Narvaez
What about considering special rounds simply as a different country? I.e. "xx-yy" for country xx with category yy?
Just a thought - that way you could simply reuse the existing tool.

Hey all,
I'm trying the jury tool, and I have some questions.
1/ I added the pictures from our competition hint: use only the category description, so drop the "category:", eg: Images_from_Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2013_in_Belgium
2/ I know have about 3200 images to be judged. I now added a round, but would like to remove it (including images that will be added later today). Can somebody help?
3/ How can I easily add judges?

I think you couldn't change it later. You can configure a new round with your new settings. (Or David can reset it for you manually.)
3/ How can I easily add judges?
Every judges have to register first. Or you can register them :) http://wlm.wmflabs.org/<language code>/register/ If you choose open type, registered judges can use the tool (the actual round). If you choose invitational type, only the admin can add judges on the config page: http://wlm.wmflabs.org/<language code>/admin/<round number>
It is based on my experiences, maybe David will correct me.

Hey Samat, thx for your reply, I think I start to understand it.
I notice that I always see the images in the same order in, eg on http://wlm.wmflabs.org/be/round/1 Is it possible to make this random . We would use a min of 3 votes per pictures, I want to avoid that all three judges start with the same image.

If you configure your round to have minimum of x votes per image, when another user logs in to start reviewing, she will see photos in order of least scored ones first. If you want to try this, register another user, score any vote on your test round, log out and back in with another account and you will see that the slideshow will show your scored image at the end.
For rounds configured as one picture - one juror an image is only shown once to any of the jurors.
Btw, you'll notice that specifying a round with minimum of x votes is temporarily broken since the tool doesn't ask you for the value of x, but I'm uploading a fix in a couple of hours.
David E. Narvaez
Hi! If I ask my jurors to select for example 40 photos they like in a round, how is the tool assisting them in this, I mean is it possible to show all those photos that got "yes" at the end and allow jurors to easily discard some of them if there is more than 40? The tool shouldn't of course know that I want 40 photos, but just present selected images neatly in one page and allow the viewer to correct his/her selection, un-tick or smth. Is this or something similar possible?

The administrator can see the amount of yes/no votes of each juror, but currently a juror can not go over the photos already scored so wouldn't be able to change those scores.

David would have to add Servia (RS) as a country first, then you'd have to follow the instructions above. Probably best to also send David a private email with different topic, to make sure he's aware of it.
