Hello,
thanks to all your replies, we now know much better who is participating
and learned how many persons are really working hard to make Wiki Loves
Monuments happen. You are doing a great job!
*notebooks*
last week we send out the 8 branded moleskine notebooks to all
participating countries as long as we had their addresses. Thanks again to
the lettera27 foundation <http://www.lettera27.org/> and Iolanda Pensa for
the generous gift. Please let me know, when the package has reached you.
If You realize that you have not sent us yet your shipping address, please
let me know as soon as possible. You may address me directly
Barbara.Fischer(a)wikimedia.de to avoid to publish your postal address.
*T-shirts
*
T-shirts will not be produced centrally. But printing plates are available
here:
3 colour: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:LUSITANA_WLM_2011_d.svg
monochrome: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WLM_LOGO_mono.svg
for details check here:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2012/FAQ#Wha…
Every chapter is invited to produce their own t-shirts.
*Calendars*
Thanks to the generous printing house die
Umweltdruckerei<http://www.dieumweltdruckerei.de/> 15
calendars will be ready for central shipping to each participating
countries at the expense of WLM by the 20th of December. The actual year
calendar has A4 landscape format and a language neutral calendarium. It
shows 13 motives chosen from the international finalists. Each calendar
weighs 300g - this might be altered this year in order to optimize
shipping. But it will look bright and valuable! Please let me know, if you
have an interest to obtain more calendars. The more calendars we order the
cheeper they get.
Please do not hesitate if you have questions or suggestions, just email
them on the mailing list or contact one of the international organisation
team.
thanks for Your collaboration!

Cheers all,
I've just fixed the statisticsdb (aka statistics) module, so DB
statistics should now be available at:
http://toolserver.org/~erfgoed/api/api.php?action=statisticsdb&format=html
Please note that the update process is now extremelly long due to the
size of the database, so it's best to not abuse it.
I hope I will be able to update module statisticsct, which is the one we
were using last year to track contest activity:
http://www.wikilovesmonuments.org.pt/tools/stats/index.php
Let me know if you find any problems.
PS: To all API developers: I just went through a huge code merge, please
review if I didn't break anything, it took me some time to adapt it to
some late changes, I might have missed something.

Hello all,
it has come to my attention (although I cannot find a mailing list
thread about it /yet/) that it was suggested that we should have a
Google Maps plugin for Wordpress displaying maps for a certain region
(a country/province/county/even municipality), with data being loaded
from our erfgoed database.
This being said, I have to admit that I am no good programmer, so I'd
like to point you to an existing example of such a solution, which was
developed last year by Nuno Tavares for use in the 2011 WLM in
Portugal -- see <http://www.wikilovesmonuments.org.pt/monumentos.php>.
>From the source code I can see that the maps are being loaded in a
frame (<iframe />) with the help of a PHP script; but taking all the
technical details aside, this is a great tool with a wonderful
potential to be used on the national sites of the participating
countries.
So, my question here is: have you heard of such a plugin (it's always
safe to ask, I presume :-)? If it doesn't exist yet, is there a
volunteer here who might be willing to spend some time developing it?
(I have no idea how hard it might be to create it.) What do you think
about such a tool -- would you, as a national WLM organiser, use it on
your website? Please let me know!
Thanks,
Tomasz
Hey,
We have finally added the english info on our website, so you can link it
on the global WLM one: http://wlm.wikimedia.rs/english.php
Thanks,
Tamara
Hi everyone,
Maybe some of you already know this, but I would like to confirm that
according to our Board, Wikimedia Bangladesh has decided to step down
from organizing Wiki Loves Monuments this year. Several months ago,
when Lodewijk mailed to our public list offering the opportunity to
join this awesome global event, we were pretty much excited to be a
part of it. But reality bites.
As you may know Wikimedia Bangladesh is a small chapter, and its main
focus is Bangla Wikipedia which actually run by a very small
community. So we are always in desperate need of volunteers to
organize various Wikimedia events here. Needless to say for WLM, we
would need at least a few dedicated volunteers to manage the entire
contest. But currently we do not have enough volunteers for this.
I know several countries arranged WLM without having an established
Chapter, but for Bangladesh it is a bit unusual and might be tough to
organize such an event without an established legal entity. This not
necessarily because of the law, but also the tradition. We have our
legal registration pending in a long bureaucratic process, which we
hoped (at first) would be all done before organizing WLM here. But
turns out it is still pending for approval.
Wikimedia Bangladesh will continue to work on their other priories –
local registration and expanding the community further. And we hope to
arrange WLM next year. Not sure if it will happen globally next time,
but we would love to give it another shot.
I thank everyone who supported us this far to keep the hope up. And a
special thank you to Lodewijk.
Regards,
Tanvir

What are the exact dates of competition in each country? Last year most European countries followed CEST local time (UTC+2), with some local variations. This year we will have more varied time zones. What will be the first country to have the UploadWizard enabled? It may be useful to have a table with all starting and closing dates. More so if it has to be checked by Guinness' agents. BTW, we have right now 43 files at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Images_from_Wiki_Loves_Monument…

Hej!
Our installation and our plugins are all up to date.
The problem is the haybase-plugin which we installed to use the blue
Dutch WLM skin. It contains a file called timthumb.php with the
following code:
// external domains that are allowed to be displayed on your website
$allowedSites = array (
'flickr.com',
'picasa.com',
'blogger.com',
'wordpress.com',
'img.youtube.com',
'upload.wikimedia.org',
);
[...]
foreach ($allowedSites as $site) {
if (strpos (strtolower ($url_info['host']), $site) !== false) {
$isAllowedSite = true;
}
}
And the check there is stupid. It just checks if an external url
contains flickr.com, not if the url is actually flickr.com. Using
this, manipulated gif images were downloaded from
http://flickr.com.aseana.com.my/xc0de.php and ended up in the cache
folder for scaled images where it later was executed as php files.
It seems only the index.php was replaced and another text file was added.
As we switched to Elyas red skin last weekend I just removed the old
WMNL skin and the haybase plugin.
Regards, Holger
