Hi folks,
Benoît started working two days ago on a poster for Wiki Loves Monuments.
His drafts are:
*<
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_Poster_-_Franc…>,
with last year French top-3 winners ;
*<
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_Poster_-_Franc…>,
with pictures of more "confidential" monuments which caught the eye of our
jury ;
(As we are having a philosophical debate whether we should put the winners,
aka "wow" pictures of "wow" monuments ; or more "normal" pictures of "more
normal" monuments :-)
It’s still work in progress, but if anyone is interested in reusing the
design, feel free to do so :)

I have created a WikiLovesMonuments MediaWiki extension, for
supporting the websites of the different editions.
Currently, its most prominent feature is its ability to show a
portlet with all participating countries and linking to its
website.
It also provides some basic info and translations for common
texts that are likely to appear on many sites:
http://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special%3AMessageGroupStats&group=ex…
You can view it on:
* http://www.wikilm.es/
and in English version:
* http://www.wikilm.es/en/
navigation and other countries sidebar sections are translated by this
extension :)
Extension documentation:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:WikiLovesMonuments
If there is some feature you miss, suggestions are welcome.

Please keep the extension synced if there are changes (or drop me a
note and I'll do it).
Best regards
Hi all,
Is the list of participating countries on the right hand side of
wikilovesmonuments.org up to date? I'm finding it easiest to point Facebook
and Twitter posts to a single website, but I want to be sure that's up to
day in case people are looking for their country.

Hi all,
Along with a couple of people at the Foundation, I manage the big social
media accounts for Wikipedia on Facebook and @wikipedia and @wikimedia on
Twitter. I'd like to invite more participation from the wider WLM community
in the next few weeks and as we start the contest in September.
*Facebook:*
The last two days, I've been reposting the top ten photos by country from
last year on the Wikipedia Facebook page and it has been very popular, with
lots of people clicking links and coming to look at the images (the Romania
post from yesterday had a Facebook reach of 100,000 people getting the
message on their wall and over 1,000 people clicking through the photos).
Still waiting on the numbers from the Portugal post from today, but it
looks like it was popular too.
https://www.facebook.com/wikipedia
I'll continue to share the posts from each country in last year's contest
through the start of WLM 2012 on the Wikipedia FB page, but I wonder if we
can do more in other languages in addition to English?
https://www.facebook.com/WikiLovesMonuments
I can geo-target among our Facebook followers, so I could do specific posts
in your language and your country, if that's something you would like. I've
already shared a couple of posts from Wiki Loves Monuments Argentina,
España and Chile today, but happy to do more if you let me know in advance
and provide the text for me in your language (or if you've already shared
in your language on Facebook, I can just re-share it there).
*Twitter:*
I hope you can help me coordinate @wikipedia tweets as well. If you are
going to be doing a tweet from your national WLM account (or your Chapter
or personal accounts) and want me to re-tweet it, please let me know. I've
tried to find relevant tweets already, but may have missed some. If you
haven't seen me retweet a message, please let me know.
If it is more convenient to put the translated message on-wiki, you could
leave suggestions here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Social_Media/Suggestions
Or you can email socialmedia(a)wikimedia.org and a group of WMF staff can see
your message and help post
Thanks,
Matthew

Hi everyone,
Let me update you on the WLM merchandise.
First of all: we decided not to produce any t-shirts internationally. Time
is getting to short to be getting them out to you all in time: please feel
free to produce your own though. We've got last year's designs still here:
if you want them, just send me an e-mail. They just need an update on the
url, that's still an .eu.
Second: I got quotes and some samples from the WMF this weekend, but to be
a bit more sure about the costs we need some kind of an estimate about how
many of the items the participating countries would like to get. The WMF
assured me they will be taking care of the shipping costs for the
merchandise that will be ordered.
You can help me making an estimate, by filling out a small
form<https://docs.google.com/a/wmnederland.nl/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFZsM…>.
Please note: this is not an order-form. We are still working on figuring
out the best way to get the orders through to the US.
Vriendelijke groet,
Cyriel
Hi Ilario,
Currently I have entries for Switzerland in German (922), English (2939)
and French (29, full stats at
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Monuments_database/Statistics).
The reason German and French have less entries is because their id's
haven't been added yet. I send around an email about that
(http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikilovesmonuments/2012-April/002683.h…)
and it didn't get picked up in every language. Maybe you can manage to
activate some people?
Having the lists in Italian would be really nice. You would need to
translate the templates and translate the lists. Once you get started we
can add it to the database.

Hello,
My name is Rexford. Myself and a couple of friends of mine are currently
working on making a list of monuments, forts and museums here in Ghana
(where I live).
We've come up with the list of many of the forts, monuments, and
museums, with pictures attached to few.
Please view where we've reached so far here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghana's_material_cultural_heritage
I want to know about two points, which are
1. the best (recommended) template to use for our listings; and
2. suggestion on how to number the list.
Any help? Will love to hear from you!
Thanks.

I'm working on our local press release, and want to write how many
countries are going to participate this year.
What is the update number right now?
