Does this make sense? https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wikipedia_Persian...) I think not.
(non-member opinion) No, I don't think it does. Every now and then people come up with suggestions to Latinize certain languages (I know this well from such attempts to Latinize Hebrew). They generally don't manage to convince more than a handful of people to adopt the new scheme, and it dies on the vine. History teaches us that such fundamental changes almost only happen through the mighty instruments of the state, in concerted efforts involving mass media, school textbooks, etc.
Until and unless there is evidence this Latinized Farsi has a constituency of readers and potential contributors, I'd say it doesn't merit consideration.

I agree. One of the commenters cites the case of Tajik, which I think is an unreasonable comparison. Do we have a precedent for such requests btw?

We had some requests like that before, which were always rejected. One that comes to mind was Russian in the Latin alphabet.

(Not a member but native Persian speaker) I think it used to be a bigger movement for it in early 2000 because there wasn't much support for Persian keyboard and script in software and lots of people had to write in English script to be able to use their phone but I haven't heard even the craziest people push for this idea recently because the support is fully there. Other reasons: - There's no official place to "regulate" the language. Persian has APLL [1] that regulates both language and the script which we heavily use in fawiki (Our MoS is basically copy of the rules on writing [2]) - Unlike Tajik, the language is not native language of any group (or anyone for that matter). - Tajik is not just a different script, it's quite different from "High Persian" (I don't know the correct translation of the term, I use Hoch Deutsch). For example, it has a significant number of loan words from Russian. I once tried speaking with a Tajik person in latin script, we gave up and switched to English.
