Please see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Language_committee#Local_name_of_lombar... and stuff linked from there. I forgot how / where to change the names.
In languages/data/Names.php in core MediaWiki.

I replied there on Meta. Not entirely sure what to do. I'm not opposed to it, but this language has a long story of competing and significantly different orthographies, and it's unclear who is the "authority". The Wikipedia articles about the language and the orthographies are not so well referenced (but maybe I'm missing something!)
Any other thoughts?

You are right.
It does not exist a Lombard language but there are different local versions. The version spoken in South of Switzerland has for instance its own authority owned by the canton of Ticino.
Kind regards

Do you have a link to this organization?

OK, so... I often deal with language names, and I don't always bring it up with the Language committee, because it is usually not controversial.
I think I'll summarize it like this:
1. There are patches already. Once there is a decision, they just need to be merged, and they'll be deployed to the live Wikipedia a few days later: a. https://github.com/wikimedia/language-data/pull/160 b. https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/core/+/693571/
2. It's difficult to determine what is "authoritative" here.
3. The replies at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Forum#The_local_name_of_Lombard_la... appear to be reasonable. Most variants listed there say "lombard".
4. If there are no objections until May 30, I'll merge the patches, and they'll (probably) be deployed during the week after that.

No one seems to object, so I'm doing it.
