I am going through https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Open_requests_for_new_languages , project by project, letter by letter, up to ten requests per email, one email per day.
I am now working on Wikipedia, and today I'm handling the letters U and V, one request in each.

Judging by the content of the English Wikipedia article and by most of the comments on the request page, it shouldn't be eligible, because today it's just a regional spoken variety that has few differences from standard German. But there are also comments on the request page that say that many books are published in it, and that it has a distinct writing standard. So I'm not sure what to say. MF-W, perhaps you have an opinion?

The request was created by someone who probably doesn't know the language, which is not so great. But on the good and practical site, there's quite a lot of content in the Incubator, and it looks legitimate, so it's OK to make it eligible.
