Today WMF Community Tech launched the big upgrade to Event Metrics I’ve been talking about in recent moths. This is the answer to last year’s #3 Community Wishlist wish. With this release, event organizers get many new metrics and powerful new features for measuring event participation, contributions and impact. Please try it; all you need is a wiki login. [1]
The sooner people give Event Metrics a spin the better. Right now, CommTech is on assignment to fix Event Metrics problems. We’re open for bug business. But such is the nature of our team that in a few weeks we’ll move on to start granting our next Wishlist wish.
Consider the program in beta right not; we tested it but are bound to have missed things. So please have a look and tell us what's broken, what's confusing and what you love! Here’s the talk page for your comments. [2]

Dear all,
I thank you for your efforts. I was honoured to speak in the education office hour last month and explain what we do in Tunisia for Wikimedia Education Programs. For years, Wikimedia TN User Group has participated in Wikimedia Education Programs. Ms. Afek Ben Chahed and Mr. Sami Mlouhi are involved for years in applying WEP techniques such as WikiFundi in Tunisia. Unfortunately, these interesting techniques cannot be easily implemented in the South of Tunisia without funding. So, as several active wikimedians are from the South of Tunisia (Mainly me, Mr. Houssem Abida, and Mr. Mounir Touzri), we decided to find other simpler hacks to teach people how to edit Wikipedia or add images to Commons. We found interesting free techniques that can be used during WEP. We are honoured to share them with you through this email:
1. Use these simple three sentences to explain how to cite references in Wikipedia
Cite whenever you write
One sentence = One reference
If you use the same reference for two sentences, feel free to put it twice.
2. Know laws
If the laws in your country places images aged more than 35 years in public domain, participants in WEP can just use them to illustrate their new Wikipedia articles instead of going long ways to take new images for that. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:PD-Tunisia.
3. Adjusting the work of vandals
As you already know, vandals are creating Wikipedia articles without putting references. If a user regularly adjusts their works, they will learn how to edit Wikipedia and after a short period, they will become excellent Wikipedia editors. We tried this with Wikipedia vandals from the South of Tunisia and we had important results.
During the 10 years of my work as a wikimedian beginning on March 19, 2009, these hacks were useful for me to enhance WEP in my region. I invite you to apply them as well for your WEPs.
Yours Sincerely,
Houcemeddine Turki (he/him)
