Good morning!
And congratulations to number 5.000 to Gerard :-) it seems to be some
strange coincidence.
Yesterday before going to bed I noted that
it.wiktionary.org does not
seem to have an admin - why I noted this? I was searching for someone
to ask about the capitalisation issue on the Italian wiktionary in
order to avoid double work starting to upload the acutal colour list I
have.
Besides that I noted that a user is uploading images and descriptions
that to my opinion should be on wikipedia and not on wiktionary:
http://it.wiktionary.org/wiki/Rosso_araldico
http://it.wiktionary.org/wiki/Croce_araldica
As the descritption of the aspects, history, dimensions, proportions
etc. should not appear there, but the term, maybe from which language
it comes from, if its a noun, verb, adverb etc., as well as the
translations. If an explanation than one like in the Oxford
Dictionary. I already contacted this user and asked him to hold on for
a moment as I wanted to ask how to go ahead on this.
One of his questions was: how to create links from wiktionary to
wikipedia (to articles with the same name and with similar names).
Where can I find the rules for linking or is it just to insert the
definite weblink starting with
http://it.wikipedia.org/....?
So who is the one I need to talk to for the Italian admin and if there
isn't one what to do to become one - as things need to be adjusted now
and not somewhere in the future. Imagine a person uploading 1500 terms
including images ... sigh ... and then having to adapt
hundreds/thousands of terms to upper/lowercase ... no, this must be
done now.
Ciao, Sabine
Ciao Sabine,
What you need to do to become an admin is to start an election. If there
is enough people who agree you would make a good admin, you can ask
André Engels to make you one. It wouldn't be a bad idea to nominate
several of the more active people and have something like three or five
people administering a Wiktionary. If you manage to determine a good
person to take on the task of burocrat during the same elections, then
you don't have to bother Andre any more afterwards.
