And it's not just Eric. I contributed to mathworld over the years here and there. I never signed over my copyrights. CRC have published my materials without permission. They will get a threatening letter from me soon. CRC textbooks are dead in our department.

I am sympathetic with you since I contributed also to Mathworld (and to Eric TT) but:
If you think this is a good idea, I do not. It will only make it worse for Eric, because his original contract with CRC like most publishing contract have a clause saying that the author of the book contends he is the original author or has secured permission for all included material and warrants the publisher against any copyright infringment and liabilities.
