On the FAQ it says that it is possible to download the entire Wikipedia.
I would expect that this would be something that is easy to do, but there does not appear to be a link for download. Is this FAQ answer just a promise?
It's in http://www.wikipedia.com/upload/cur_table.sql.gz and http://www.wikipedia.com/upload/old_table.sql.gz (history). Where would be a good place to document this?

Wait a minnow, that sounds like the files I deleted because they contain passwords. If we make the Wikipedia database dump available for download, we must make sure it does not contain passwords.

How about [[Wikipedia:Database download]]?

There are no passwords in the cur or old tables, only in the user table (and they're now encrypted). Unless, of course, somebody wrote their password in the text of an article!

Whatever the internal name, I would a link to that entry from the Main Page, in the part of the page that says Wikipedia. I guess "Wikipedia database download" was supposed to be that?
It would be good to make clear which one is the software running Wikipedia and which one is the content of the database.
Another question. Clicking on "Recent Changes" to the Main Page yields "No such special page" error. Is this the intended behavior?

It used to be exactly that.

You're either looking at http://wikipedia.com (or anything other than http://www.wikipedia.com) which is still the old phase II software (but only for the first page you look at, since all URLs there point explicitly to the new server!), or you have an old version stuck in your browser or proxy's cache.

I'd say on [[Wikipedia:Download]], with a link from the front page.

It's presently [[Wikipedia:Database download]], with a link from the front page. I've made a redirect from [[Wikipedia:Download]] as well, if you like.
