You may have noticed that the title of the article redirected to was not "REM" but "#REDIRECT [[REM]]". This being a highly invalid article title, you're not allowed to edit it!
A fix for the problem (which I think is triggered by a funky newline character) is already in CVS waiting to be put online to see if it helps. (in wikiPage.php)
In the meantime; if someone else created the redirect, try going back to edit it (via the "redirected from X" link). Delete the whole thing and type it in again, that should fix it. (Unless your browser also puts in the funky newlines.)
Also make sure there is always a space between "#REDIRECT" and "[[bla bla bla]]" (this causes a similar problem; also fixed in CVS).
