The privacy policy (lonnnnng awaited) was approved by the board at the last meeting. It was just copied on foundation wiki. http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_policy
It would be great that the policy be translated in all languages (see http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Privacy_policy). Once most languages are translated, we would like to link it from the footer of pages.

Welsh translation at [[:cy:Wicipedia:Polisi_preifatrwydd]]
I have several issues with it:
* "identified by your network IP address. This is a series of four numbers" <- too technical, and won't hold true for IPv6
* "It will be deleted when you close your browser session." <- depends on the browser
* "By participating to an IRC channel, your IP address will be exposed to other participants." <- this is plain wrong *especially* on freenode. (cloaks anyone?)
* "Once created, user accounts can not be removed. " <- yes they can, you probably meant to say "won't"

It _may_ be exposed. If you are a regular contributor you may ask for a cloak on [...].
- "Once created, user accounts can not be removed. " <- yes they can,
you probably meant to say "won't"
Once created, user accounts with contributions can't be removed.
(We have to retain the history)

You're like the ones that wrote that page confusing a technical impossibility with something deemed undesirable.

Even without cloaks, the IP is usually (but not always) replaced with a hostmask. Also, anyone can ask for a generic cloak on Freenode.

Where do I put the translation?
And what do I do about errors in the English original?

At http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Privacy_policy/%7Blanguage code}
For example, http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Privacy_policy/It
And what do I do about errors in the English original?
Please fix them on meta. Changes made there will be copied to the Foundation wiki once the page has stabilised a little.
Thanks.
Angela.
