Hi all,
I think it's best not to inject this mail with POV, this time we can set an example by keeping arguments on Meta, rather than filling up people's inboxes.
Also, it's probably pointless to give my POV here as I'm sure everyone already knows what it will be, based on the content on the proposal.
However, I request that everyone, even if you're not interested in languages, please have a look at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Proposed_policy_for_wiki_closure written by Toytoy from the Chinese Wikipedia.
In it, he proposes a policy that would mean closure of the majority of existing Wikipedias (of course, it would leave en, de, es, fr, ja, etc., but would possibly close even such successful ones as the scn.wiki, or as noted on the talkpage maybe even zh.wiki)
For details and justification, please see that page.
To discuss the policy, and voice opinions for or against, please go to http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Proposed_policy_for_wiki_closure
I request that everyone give their opinion on the talkpage. If we only have opinions from people deeply interested in languages, surely it will be a more slanted discussion than if we have replies from many Wikimedia project participants.
Cheers Mark
