Hello,
Even if you don't speak a word of German, the page http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiReader is worth to have a look. Thomas Karcher of the German wikipedia assembled our articles about swedish topics to a IMO very beautiful print edition.

Maybe preparing such articles series is good way towards a print edition of Wikipedia.

Very cool!
It should though include a copy of the GFDL; smallish print in the back is probably fine.

This is great! I don't speak a word of German, but managed to understand most of it via Google translation :) What program was used to generate the pdf? I didn't find a good free html2pdf or latex2pdf.

Well, I don't know if this is of any help to you, but there exists MikTeX (http://www.miktex.org/) which contains a pdflatex.
This is fantastic.
