I'd say request sources mercilessly, and don't be afraid to delete

Subject: [Wikipedia-l] Query about changes on the Wikipedia
Recently, there was an election in Goa, India. The party which lost
ascended power, because some of the smaller parties that won a few seats
each (and Independents too) changed their earlier stance and decided
decided to support the former.
This lead to debate and criticism here.
Please visit the page on the Goa Forward Part [
], a local political party,
a page which I initially helped build.
Somewhere along the way, following a few anonymous and signed edits, the
page has got changed rather drastically. See the changes between:
The content and context has been changed rather drastically, and in my view
some parts of the new page reads like official PR sheet of the party
itself. A few important critical sections have been completely deleted,
while an unsigned comment on the Talk page argues that the article is being
"edited to make it more up-to-date" and some sections "appear too
elaborate and unnecessary".
My questions are:
* How does Wikipedia check edits which might change an entry drastically
while claiming to improve it, specially in a context where there might be
only few Wikipedia volunteer editors working in a particular region?
* In case politicians get assistance -- paid or otherwise -- to do some
window-dressing of their entries, how is this to be tackled?
* Given that regions like India have a lot of techie skills (but only few
volunteers), and the social media is being widely (mis)used to fight
political sides, does the Wikipedia have any best practices to understand
how such issues could be coped with?
Thanks and regards,
