Because that serves no-one any good. It would suddenly become an absolute
PITA to make even minor changes to any tabular data.
Then one of our vast programming staff can convert it.
In their copious free time, presumably...
Many computer users are familiar with creating tables
(A) in Word or
Excel; or (B) ASCII tab-delimited or comma-delimited format.
But I'd imagine that few want to go through a download-edit-upload cycle for
every change.
