The current functionality shows you the link you're being directed to and you have to click on it. It doesn't feel onerous to me, at least for the moment. Let's see how it goes.

I too prefer the current functionality. It only means one more click if you want to follow the redirect, and makes the page that contains the redirect more accessible.
