In the upcoming elections, I intend to make no comment on which specific candidates I prefer, nor do I intend to vote in the elections. The "constitutional monarch" should stay out of politics, I think.
It would please me, though, if at least 1 of the seats could be filled by someone who is not from the United States, because we are a global project, and there are concerns from people from time to time that we need to reflect that fact in governance.
By my count, 8 of 11 candidates total are not from the United States. So it is entirely possible that both seats will be non-U.S., which is wonderful, too.

I hope that in two or three years we can change the allocation of the seats to "one per continent" (forget about Antarctia).
I think that if the election will be kept first past the post some might withdraw to make sure that the strongest of their language wins a seat.

Given that there are only five seats, it could get a little crowded around that table...
(Don't worry, I do know what you meant. :)

"Continent" is a very ambiguous term. See [[Continent]]. Also, where would you put Turkey? What about Russia?
And what about the whole lot of Asian people which will be crushed (no offence) under the weight of East Asian population, with very different kinds of concerns? The same situation happens in some other continent-bases organizations, like the publicly selected representative for ICANN.
I really believe that even a division among DVD regions will work better than continents.
