Hi, surfing on hy.wikipedia (Armenian I think) I've noticed that the logo has been coulored with the national flag colours. Not having a clue on Armenian, I'm not sure if this is only a temporary change (National Holidays?) or a permanent change. I think it shouldn't be allowed in the latter case, since wikipedia is about languages and not countries.

Hi,
Yes, it's armenian. I don't know what policies about logos say, but simple common sense suggests that cultures that have troubled relationship with neighbours (as it happens basically in all the Caucasian area) would probably make for better interproject communications if they kept away from nationalistic symbologies. Yet I'm afraid they won't hear us at all. Most of those projects work in total insularity, interproject communications do not seem to interest them too much.

According to the image history (see http://hy.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Image:Wiki.png&uselang=en ), this logo has been in use since the 13 June 2007. I doubt it's for some national day...and don't agree with such national logos either.

I agree completely.

Ack ! Whilst I am supportive of temporary (as in "24 hours") fun logo for special events, setting up a permanent derivative logo is really wrong, in particular when it refers to a nation.
Can someone talk to them and explain to them it is not okay to do this ? I would be interested to know the process followed which led to such a decision. Might it reflect internal bias or a misunderstanding of the nature of our project ?

Hi,
I asked one of the users who appears to speak English to put me in contact with the admins regarding their logo. I'll report their answer as soon as I get one.

Hoi,
I seem to have traced an admin for hy.wiki, I left him a message here: http://hy.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D5%84%D5%A1%D5%BD%D5%B6%D5%A1%D5%AF%D6%81%D5%A B_%D6%84%D5%B6%D5%B6%D5%A1%D6%80%D5%AF%D5%B8%D6%82%D5%B4:Teak#Logo_issue
inviting him to join the list to discuss the issue. Most admins there seem to be fluent in English, so hopefully we can sort things out directly.

BTW, ro.wikipedia also has a different logo, with the Cyrillic letter replaced by a Romanian diacritic.
