I've been trying to follow the directions towards starting a separate wiki, not necessarily in a different language but definitely for another purpose. I'm using it to categorize and organize data for my boss.
So how do I actually go about making a main page and moving it to another domain?
Someone could probably direct you better but I think you're on the wrong list. Poke around for the Development list.
As for making a main page, you'll have to download the package onto your server, unzip it, and then go through the installation process.

Yeh. Not the most helpful but I've installed it before. When I did the process was somewhat rocky and I had to login to the IRC channel to get all kinds of specific help. Surely its a lot smoother now. Hopefully, anyway. =)

I haven't got problems for the installing. Uncompress the files, go with the browser and have the php install do almost everything. At last you need to copy LocalSettings.php from the config folder to the mediawiki root. Launching it is easy. It's a bit more difficult for more complex installs ;-)
Had to maneuver around an unchangable server timeout of 30 seconds last time. =)
Like I said. Its probably all taken care of now.
