What's our policy with .gif? I know I'm supposed to be the ultimate "buck stops here" on policy issues, but I honestly forgot what we decided.

I don't remember that anybody had any strong feelings about it. I'd see it the same as OGG/MP3--we'd rather have PNGs, but a GIF is OK. I'd be likely to convert them if they were posted anyway (although I would /not/ automatically convert MP3->OGG, because that's a lossy transform).
