Excuse me, Erik, but discussions of what end users want need not be neutral. Only Wikipedia articles must follow the NPOV.
If parents or any other group with strongly held values want to sift out what they regard as antithetical to their values, why should we thwart them?
A handbook on sexual practices might sift *in* only those articles pertaining to belching (sic). It could go in the campanion CD-ROM for 'Our Bodies, Our Selves'.
An Islamic state might decide to filter out any info on Israel or Christianity -- but might decide that NPOV is just fine for the Arab-Israeli articles. Hey, you never know.
Why not come to sifter-l and discuss your team certification proposal there?

Ed, I know you like to advertise sifter-l wherever you can, but my proposal is for a certification system *within* Wikipedia, which might well be used by the groups you describe. All I'm opposing is a system exclusively dedicated to a specific purpose (e.g. family filters), I am not opposed to generic systems.

Right. I think we all understand that by now, since you keep pushing for it about five times a day, every day, without finding many converts.
The consensus seems to be that there is no need for a certification system in addition to Larry's sifter. That is certainly my opinion.
So maybe we could lay this dead horse to rest.

False. Several people have supported the idea, and even Larry himself has said that the certification system may well complement his sifter idea, one of his main arguments against it, IIRC, was the use of the word "team". Please don't spread FUD about ideas you disagree with.

Erik
