I've tweaked up the search some more.
On Karen Johnson's suggestion, the "miser mode" search now goes ahead
and does a title search, which is still quite fast and useful enough for
most purposes, and only then provides the google link for fulltext
searching. Miser mode now goes into effect on weekends as well as
weekdays, but is still only half the day.
Fulltext searching on the other languages and meta is not impeded.
