Thanks. The reason I asked is that this is only one section of a large
page that has 12 of these type of code sections. ONLY this one seems to
function incorrectly, others work as anticipated. I am somewhat of a
perfectionist & it just bothers me when something does not work
properly.

Works for me on English Wikipedia (site config may make a difference),
although the center tags don't seem to do anything.
