Hi everyone!
At the moment we are working on a collaboration with the Wikimedia Foundation to get some goodies and merchandise internationally produced. The production of larger amounts is cheaper then small amounts and would be available for all participating countries. We are looking into getting pens, buttons, stickers and maybe t-shirts: off course it will be up to you what you would like to order for you specific country. The costs would be limited to production costs: the WMF likes to support WLM, by taking care of the shipping costs.
In order for us (Barbara Fischer and me) to contact the person(s) of the organizing chapters directly about this, please make sure you're contact information on Commonshttps://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2012/Communicationis up to date.
The countries that have not yet provided their full contact information (please add an individual contact for communication purposes) are: * Andorra * Armenia * Austria * Belgium & Luxembourg * Bolivia * Canada * Colombia * Czeck Republic * Germany * India * Israel * Kazakhstan * Mexico * Netherlands * Norway * Portugal * Romania * Russia * Serbia * Slovenia * Switzerland * Ukraine * United Kingdom (?) * Venezuela
Vriendelijke groet, Cyriel Brusse - Wikimedia Nederland
Hi Cyriel, just to be sure, can be WLM-branded?
Regards,
André

Just a suggestion, you can add caps to the list.

@André: yes, everything will carry the WLM logo.
@Karthik: that's a nice suggestion, thank you! I'm not sure how widely the reach of caps is though, I think t-shirts are more internationally appealing. You're always free to produce some for your own country off course!

Hi Cyriel, no problem. Wanted to check if the merchandise is to be gifted to all participants and volunteers, or only volunteers?

Lol. I took me a while to realise the meaning. I was thinking "what does he want to put in capital letters?" xD

How much do you want to take in your country? You will get thousands of participants... I wouldn't take just for people organising it, also for the events you may do to promote WLM, and for giving out (or selling) when doing a Wiki takes, including the prizes.
Small material can be reused after the contest, of course.

Haha, I even went to IRC to make sure I wasn't misreading the reply ;-).

It's all up to you who you ant to give it to: remember though that you will be asked to pay your part in the production costs: WMF will only be taking care for the costs of shipping to your country. I can image that you, for instance, want to order t-shirts for the volunteers (recognizable at the event and a nice thank-you-for-being-a-volunteer) and as many pens, stickers and buttons as you think people will be attending you activities.
The selling of merchandise on the other hand is a touchy subject: be aware that there are rules about what you are and are not allowed to do with Wikimedia-merchandise. I don't think the WLM-logo is actually branded by the WMF yet and therefore does not fall under the Trademark Policy, but I think "*You may make t-shirts, desktop wallpaper, or baseball caps with Wikimedia Marks on them, though only for yourself, your friends (meaning people from whom you don't receive anything of value in return), and donors and other Chapter or Foundation supporters, so long as you are giving them away rather than selling them. *https://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Trademark_policy#Wikimedia_Marks_and_Merchandise" is still a nice one to use as a guideline.

The logo is CC-BY-SA 3.0 + GFDL, with a "no name listing required for WLM" exception (note you'd still need to provide the license!). https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:LUSITANA_WLM_2011_d.svg

Good point. I was considering a price for paying the production costs, not for getting rich, but it seems that wouldn't be allowed for a WMF trademark either. It might be allowed if the selling entity were a chapter, though. You'd need to check the agreement.
Nasty copyright giving us troubles even when we're having fun making t-shirts :)
Hi Platonides,
I'm pretty sure the intention of Susana here was that no naming/mentioning requirements were strictly necessary at all for WLM purposes (so that it is most useful as a logo). If you wish you could ask her of course to rephrase.
The point is that you name/mention where reasonable (as a Good Citizen) but if it obstructs you in the usage (like on a T-shirt) it wouldn't be necessary. That is why I asked her to add that exception.
Hope that clarifies, Lodewijk
