Nicer, more useful Campaign pages coming soon!

Hello everyone! I've been working on making Campaign pages more useful over the last few days. Details about the system are at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:Yuvipanda/Campaigns_namespace_proposal, but even better - you can see a live demo! http://blue-dragon.wmflabs.org/wiki/Campaign:show-off-campaigns The idea being that you can pass on links to the Campaign page itself and people can upload from there. They can also see a description, and other images that have been uploaded (it currently shows the last 50 images). This is far more useful than the current version, http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Campaign:wlm-nl, which is just a JSON structure. Suggestions / Comments for improving the feature are welcome! While initially I expected this to take longer to finish, things moved much faster than expected and the patch is very close to being merged now! I'll try to get this deployed next week. Hi all! I know it is not the most important issue now, but I would like to know: was there any consensus in the past about the name of the competition? Should we prefer the "Wiki Loves Monuments" form to "Wiki loves monuments" or "wiki loves monuments"? Thanks! Best, Samat

Hi, Now there are 2 people only willing to organize in Japan. I made a list on commons, but no templates. Upgrade to UploadCampaigns

Hello! As part of upcoming work to be done to support use of UploadCampaigns from Mobile, I've spent time rewriting the underlying infrastructure for UploadCampaigns. This has no changes for people who use UploadWizard to just ''upload'' images, but plenty of changes for people who administer and maintain campaigns. The most important changes are: * Campaigns are maintained by creating and modifying pages in a new Campaign: namespace. Special:UploadCampaign and Special:UploadCampaigns have been removed. * Pages in the Campaign: namespace have all the ''features'' of normal pages, and so have page history (solving [[bugzilla:30645]]), a talk page, can be watched/moved/deleted/undeleted, etc. * Full wikitext support in most fields - header/thanks labels (fixing [[bugzilla:39910]]) and in the field labels (solving [[bugzilla:39911]]). This should make customizations and internationalization simpler. * Arbitrary number of custom fields where the user can enter text while uploading, and such text is included in the uploaded image's description, are now supported (previously you were restricted to two fields) * As a negative, the GUI interface for configuring campaigns is now gone (temporarily). Currently the Campaign configuration is stored as [[:en:JSON|JSON]], which is edited by hand. There exists minimal validation so that corrupt data is not saved. A point and click interface would eventually be added at some point in the future. [[mw:Extension:UploadWizard/Campaigns|Documentation]] for the current JSON format exists. This change is currently live on the [http://commons.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/ commonsbeta] site, and can be tested there. This is on schedule to be rolled out to Commons on Monday, July 22 - unless large unforeseen bugs arise. Thanks to MarkTraceur, Odder and Brion for their help in getting this done! WLM 2013 in Thailand

Hello All, We have changed our status from probably participating to participating. Our list is in a reasonable shape and we are trying hard to find juries and prizes. At this moment, none has confirmed to be our jury or sponsor yet! All are welcome to help with these. We would like the site: th.wikilovesmonuments.org to redirect to Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2013 in Thailand/th. A preliminary discussion with Lodewijk and Platonides in June concluded this matter as "easy to do, and probably non-controversial" but we haven't found a person with an authority/ability to do that yet. Using upload wizard to add images to daily categories on Commons

It seems likely that in the UK we will need to do pre-filtering of the entries as the competition goes on. Is there any way to get the upload wizard to add each image to a custom daily category on Commons, such as [[Category:WLM-UK 2013 09-01]], and so on, throughout the contest? If not, what would be the quickest way to populate such a daily category manually? Michael
