Yes please. Go ahead and do all of them!

There are several options possible, but we recommend to use the system which uses an icon independent if an image already is in the list or not. See the + icon in the list below. In that way we also enable participants to upload images from monuments with already a photo, which can be a better photo, a photo from another angle, better perspective, etc.

Hi everyone,
Last year the Wikimedia Foundation developed a Android mobile app for
Wiki Loves Monuments. After September it was abandoned. But the app is
open source, so now it's back as a community supported app. I rebuild
the backend server in toollabs and Yuvi did his magic mobile tricks.
Yuvi also works for the WMF mobile team, but he did all of this in his
spare time as a volunteer.
You can download a test version of the app at
https://tools.wmflabs.org/heritage/downloads/WLMMobile-debug.apk . It
uploads to https://test.wikipedia.org so feel free to play around.
Feedback is appreciated!
For the people interested in helping with the development, see
https://github.com/wikimedia/WLMMobile
You can file bugs at
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Wiki%20Loves%20Monumen…
(for now component general, will ask for a mobile component)

RE: Sylvain's comments and practical "user experience"or sociological
considerations.
A) the tool looks great!
B) Will it be able to handle 1,000 entries per day? Or a better question -
What will it take to make it work well with 1,000 entries per day?
- technically, I'd think one upload (perhaps of just one day's worth of
entries each day) would seem to be needed. If each reviewer needs to
upload 30,000 images each time they use it, it could be pretty difficult.
-technically, can it be set so that new images (or perhaps randomly
selected images) are judged by different reviewers. We wouldn't want the
same 500 images being at the front of the line that get judged by 10
different people, but the other 29,500 don't get seen at all.
-sociologically, how to deal with folks who go through and select the
photos they uploaded and rate poorly other very good photos (gaming)?
-what happens to photos not rated in cases there are too many photos and
not enough reviewers? Are they just left behind?
-is "rate as you go" a possibility, or would you have to wait until the end
of the contest?
-presentation, could you include a box where the local designer (who
selects the various options) explains how they work, i.e. what are the
mechanics for a photo to get to the next round.
Perhaps these aren't the easiest questions, and maybe some can be ignored
for the time being, but I'd think the success of the system will depend on
questions like this being addressed.
Sincerely,
Pete

Well, except for the part where my server's PHP version was too old to use
Composer, the installation went smoothly, the steps are very clear.
But looking at the config part and I'd appreciate some explanations about
what the options mean : how do the rounds system work, and the binary
scoring (if two jury members review a file, one saying "good" and the other
"bad", what does it do ?), etc.
For this part :
Commons category
Plain text file
I guess the "plain text file" is a one-shot import ? But what about the
"Commons Category" ? Do we have to import everything at once or can the
jury make the first round of evaluation "on the fly" during the contest ?
In France, we had 27 000 photos to evaluate. In 20 days, it is very short
so if the jury has 50 days (assuming they start sorting out the photos the
first day of the contest) its better for them.
And I want to thank you for creating the tool, it looks awesome !
Best regards,
Sylvain.
Hi all,
in some countries it is harder to find a good jury than in others.
Especially when the Wikimedia community there is relatively small, it can
be a real challenge.
While every country can set up the jury as they like, please be advised
that there should be a minimum of 3 jury members always, and that jury
members shouldn't win a prize or nomination they judge upon - to avoid
conflicts of interest. Last year we had a few countries where it was not
possible to find three dedicated non-participants from that country. We
helped them from the international team, to find jury members who lived in
other countries.
If you are willing to help out such a country with jury duty, or if your
country is in need of an external jury member, please contact me or just
send an email to this mailing list. That way we can connect interested
people with countries in need of good jurors :)
Thanks!

Hi, does anyone here know Python? I need someone to modify a script for WLM USA just a bit - I can't do it myself, but I don't think it would take more than 10 minutes.
Hi,
I finally managed to publish the code in a repo and will use this
thread to provide information on how to install and test the jury
tool. Notice that, at the time of this writing, the tool only shows
the setup workflow, and is still missing the jury controls, etc.
The tool is based on Symfony 2, so all PHP developers are invited to
collaborate. Here are the installation instructions
1. Clone the repository
git clone https://git.gitorious.org/wiki-loves-monuments-pa/wlmpa-jurytool.git
2. Change into the repository and use composer to download symfony
cd wlmpa-jurytool
php route/to/composer.phar update
3. Edit app/config/parameters.yml and set the database name, user name
and password
4. Create schema
app/console doctrine:schema:create
5. Create a super user
app/console fos:user:create --super-admin admin test(a)example.com pa$$w0rd
6. Use your browser to navigate to wlmpa-jurytool/web/app_dev.php (the
exact URL depends on your web server configuration)
7. Log in using the administrator credentials created in step 5, and
follow instructions.
Use this thread to post question about the installation process above.
The code should be changing rapidly so things that do not work right
now (there are plenty things that do not work) could be working in a
couple of days.

We have loaded the Jury Tool on the WMUK server, and I am now testing it. On attempting to load a category of images from Commons the program throws an exception:
Notice: Undefined index: categorymembers in /var/www/jury.wikilovesmonuments.org.uk/src/WLM/JuryToolBundle/Controller/DefaultController.php line 171
Is there someone who can help with setup problems, please?
Michael
Hi all,
I can officially announce that after the successful 2011 competition,
Hungary can participate in the WLM 2013 again. (The contract was signed
yesterday and we received it right now, with the list of the monuments.)
It will be a pilot project in partnership with the Hungarian National Asset
Management Inc. [1] Therefore, we have only access to the list of
monuments, which are directly owned by the Hungarian government. It means
about 900 monuments from the ca. 13000 country level monuments. I really
hope, that in the case of a successful competition and cooperation, next
year we will have access to the full list of monuments.
We have a lot to do before the competition can start in Hungary, and it is
quite sure, that we can not start in the time of the international
competition. Our governmental partner would like to check everything before
we start, and they don't work on the weekend.
