Hoi, Absolutely. There is no reason why en-AU or en-US are not valid and cannot be used in WIkidata for monolingual text.. That is a particular property in Wikidata. What is a problem is that at the same time codes are given a meaning that does not follow our language policy. The policy exists to prevent the abomination of using codes for something different.
