It has LOTS of pages in the Multilingual Wikisource, and recently, they
were recategorized.

I think that the proposal is sensible:
* ak is a macro language code ( https://iso639-3.sil.org/code/aka ), which
includes Twi (tw) and Fante (fat). Avoiding macro language codes is in line
with our general policy.
* Anecdotally, over the years, lots of people from Ghana told me about
their confusion about where they should write, and in which variety.
* Less anecdotally, there has been good activity in the incubator and
translatewiki in Fante (fat):

* There are fewer than 600 articles in ak.wikipedia, and it won't be too

* There have been no objections on the discussion page since it was created
a month ago.
So I'd suggest approving that. I'd further suggest removing Akan as a
language for MediaWiki localization: there are almost no translations into
it, and almost all of those that exist are identical to the translations of
the same strings into Twi (

All that said, I have been talking a lot to editors from Ghana in the last
few years, and some of them are personal friends, so it's possible I have a
conflict of interest or an incomplete understanding of how things work
there. Other opinions are welcome.

Hi all,
I would like to suggest the approval of Wikipedia in Frafra (gurwiki) [1].
The localization of the most important messages is at 91 %, but I bet we
can get them to finish those in no time. [2]
The activity level has been rising for several months. [3] Granted, the
content of the articles I've spot-checked isn't perfect, but most editors
use mobile, which is unfortunately not the easiest way to edit, so I'm
willing to be forgiving about that – surely the quality will improve with
time.
*We need to find someone to verify it, though. Any takers?*

Hi all,
I would like to suggest the approval of Shan Wikibooks (shnwikibooks) [1].
This is a little bit special, because in all of LangCom's history, we have
only approved 2 Wikibooks projects! One in 2010, and one in 2017.
By comparison, the Shan Wikipedia was approved in 2018, Shan Wiktionary in
2020 and Shan Wikivoyage in 2022, so at this rate it won't be long until
there are more Shan projects than there are Wikimedia projects. ;-)
The localization [2] is very good, and the activity levels [3] have been
stable pretty much since the very beginning of the test project, and that's
not something you see very often.
If there are no objections within a week, I will post on [[Talk:Language
committee]], and then we take it from there.

Hello all,
I would like to suggest the approval of the Wayuu Wikipedia (gucwiki) [1].
There was a lot of activity in this test Wikipedia back in 2012–2013, but
unfortunately it failed to stick (maybe because LangCom were too slow to
approve?), but last year and this year the activity has picked up again,
and the number of edits and editors for both 2021 and 2022 is looking good
(some lulls here and there, but that can happen anywhere) [2].
The localization is looking good – almost all of the most used messages
have been translated, so getting the last few ones translated as well
should be no problem. [3]
As for verification, I don't think it is necessary for this language –
Oscar from Wikimedia Venezuela has worked a lot with the community, so he
can confirm that it is indeed the right language.
If there are no objections, I will proceed with the next steps one week
from now.
