I'm in Köln right now, and I really don't hear much Kölsch other than the unfriendly ladies in Toom at the cash register and a few people here and there. I hear more Swabish, Hessisch, and Bairisch, really (that's just the people I live with in the student housing).

Kölle alaaf, The problem isn't that there might be only a few contributors to it, it's that it cannot be considered a language in any way. It's clearly a dialect of German, much more so than, say, Swiss German or Plattdeutsch. It's neither far enough from Modern High German nor does it have an orthography. Wikipedia shouldn't include regional dialects. Otherwise I'd vote for a Wikipedia in Saxon. ;)

Hello, I wanted to ask, it is possible to start a new Wikipedia for the dialect
"Kölsch", which is spoken into and around Cologne (Germany). In Cologne I know a few persons, would have interest at this Wikipedia (-Language).
