We already had this problem once. It could depend on your browser settings as I have similar problems with another website. The last time I created the account for the user and he then changed the password after login - this worked well - we could try it this way.

Could you please try to edit an article and see if you can save it? Not that your IP is locked due to some vandal that was around (there were quite many during the last weeks).
