Hi!
Ciao Sabine
Talking with Gerard on how to promote wiktionary we thought about a "the word of the day" list where people can subscribe and where we just take a word from the wiktionary each day and send it to the group together with the link on wiktionary.
A neat idea. I think for promotion the most imporant is the activity on the project itself, but promotion on external sites, particular other Wikimedia projects are effective. How about improvement of Wiktionary article on your language Wikipedia?
And not only for the promotion of the project itself but also for the Foundation's promotion I am now planned to create Wiktionary page on the foundation wiki. Though I don't ask opinion of the board as is, some board member said it would be good each project has its own page. The page newly created would be not so long (if possible no scroll bar! ) but provide visitors (they are potential donors) with sufficient information on the projects; its history, its mission, its size and stats, future planning of publishing (iirc there is no plan for wiktionary yet). The workspace is curently http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Aphaia/WMF/Our_projects/Wiktionary. If you would like to see our draft for Wikipedia (some people helped its development), it is on http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Aphaia/WMF/Our_projects/Wikipedia (and now filled meta:Wikipedia, too).
Your collaboration will be appliciated. Cheers.
