Well, the German wikipedia is in favor of red links, judging from the votes on deutsch-l.
I'd like to keep "red links" standard, so on switching the software, people can judge wether they like it (or would like it as newcomers). Some might not even have tested that option on the English wikipedia. Others are probably afraid of a change, but with the new software, they will be busy with other adjustments... ;)
Anyway, once other wikipedias get switched, any of the developers will change it back to question marks if there is demand.
