I think they need to be NPOV, but I also am in favor of trying to keep them. Are those two goals incompatible?
Can someone give a specific example (URL) of a specific page, so that we can narrow the discussion a bit?
The fact that the pages are popular is not _entirely_ irrelevant, although it is also not _conclusive_ as to whether or not we should keep them. For the most part, the popularity of a page measures traffic from google, our biggest traffic source. If lots of people are searching for 'X' on google, and finding our page 'X', then that's good. We should give them the NPOV on 'X'.
That's true even if 'X' is something that a normal encyclopedia couldn't touch because of space constraints.
On the other hand, I do think that there are potential namespace issues here if proper naming conventions aren't followed.

I didn't say anything about it earlier, but I'm in favor of a page named 'fuck', subject to all the things that others said already. It should be a serious page, not a snickering joke. It's an important word, with an interesting history, and that's that.
I feel the same way about the 'N-word', even if the fact that I'm an upper middle class white guy with good ol' boy southern roots precludes _me_ from even typing the word without feeling negative emotional reactions. :-)
Someone could write a serious treatment of the word, and that's a good thing.
