That also triggers a few questions in my mind upon the position of international wikipedia in the existing community.
Although I agree with the change myself, I'm sympathetic to Anthere's discomfort here. It was not at all clear to me that a consensus was reached. I would not be uncomfortable with the change if we'd spent a couple more days beating its opponents into submission with the vast weight of our numbers and our arguments (which is probably what would have happened in the end), but the change was pretty quick given that there were objections.
I also don't think that it's fair to say that the English Wikipedians decide how things are run, just because we're the only competent programmers. If the others are outvoted, fine, but let them have a say.
