Just like you, Tomasz, I expect and hope many of the minor WPs to grow in the future. But I doubt that e. g. Interlingue, Nauruan, Yiddish, Lojban, Klingon, Volapük, Hawaiian, Aromanian, Manx, Gothic, Pali, Aramaic, Choctaw, Hiri Motu or Muscogee will ever reach that critical mass where they can rightly be considered as encyclopedias. In my opion, that's a fact we must not overlook when discussing about new language editions of Wikipedia.
Now let me mingle in this discussion.
I am a dreamer, though sometimes a cynical one, but I am. I doubt as well that all of those wikipedias (or indeed /any/ of them) will ever grow to an acceptable level. On the other hand, it's nice that they exist and they must be given several chances, as long as they don't become a vandal refuge. I deem it more important that we avoid the creation of Wikipedias like these in the future, but imo, we /must/ have an encyclopaedia in all of them, at any case the natural languages, some day. We'd just reach the right people. By the way, I think 1,000 articles can be enough for a basical Wikipedia, considering the existence of a list of articles all Wikipedias should have (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/List_of_articles_all_languages_should_have) of that length, though 10,000 is of course much more desirable. At li: we are now going towards 1000 articles, and I must admit that writing the articles I came across a lot of information I was not aware of.
