I would agree with that on Wikipedia in article space. It may have administrative uses - e.g. Articles For Deletion on en: creates the discussion pages (one per nominated article) using a button, and the resulting pages are transcluded into a page of the day's nominations. And of course it's appropriate on Wikinews.
