Well, *some* of this can be remedied, *to an extent*, by using OpenOffice with modified UniWakka wiki export filter. Then one can use headers, emphasises, lists, footnotes in OpenOffice file, then export it to the wiki syntax, then throw it to wiki edit window via the clipboard.
Not the other way around, though. And the conversion xslt I, personally, was able to produce is capable only of very simplified version of MediaWiki syntax (so, no <ref name="name"/>). And no WYSIWYG tables.
