Are there any success stories where established institutions, associations, companies, etc. have decided to contribute to Wikipedia instead of publishing information on their own website?
Of course Wikipedia shouldn't be used for spam or promotion, but if you are an association for Michigan heritage, set out to document the history of the cities and governors of that state, then you can do this by extending the Wikipedia articles rather than putting the information elsewhere. But does this happen? To what extent, and what are the experience from that?
