My overall view is that we ought not to become a bounded set movement. This is my primary concern, and I think the distinction between hard and soft security is of secondary importance. My experience in similar online communities says that what will happen is that the fresh new blood will dry up, and, after a couple years of seeming health, the community will be anemic, exclusive, parochial, snobbish, and go in for a lot of navel-gazing instead of working on it's grand project.
