I find that hard to believe when you consider that there are several languages that use the devanagari script, and the transliterations involve distinguishing sound differences that are not phonemic in European languages. Some romanizations also involve diacritics that are not used for any European languages such as dotted consonants. Let's not make the situation seem simpler than it actually is.
