Just some details for you to consider: - in the 2011 edition May had a real grim (beautiful) photograph that didn't correspond to the season, maybe intentionally? The point is: will the photographs be placed in a certain month intentionally? - in the colophon maybe it is enough to add a phrase like "alle photographs are contributed under the CC BY-SA 3.0 license" instead of repeating this 13 times? - is it possible to add the Wikipedia logo and the Wikimedia logo besides teh logos of possible sponsors?

You are right, it might cause some smiles / eye brow lifting if August shows a winter picture. May be in that case the international team could switch the position. The licence for each foto will mentioned on the last page. Please be aware that it may differ from foto to foto. The calendar from 2012 did not show the logos of wikimedia or wikipedia neither on the front nor on the last page. But If we would like to have them there it should not be a problem to add them on the last page.

I guess it would be OK for free samples - but in fact - these extra copies which are about to be purchased by chapters is a subject of commercial use of Wikipedia logo by third party :-)
This is a good point, but I'd imagine the WMF can grant a license for use of the logo. This seems like an entirely appropriate and favorable use, but IANAL. If you send an email to trademarks@wikimedia.org explaining the usage, they should be able to draw up a license agreement.

It may be a bit hard to determine the day of the week.
You have a list of numbers: 1 2 3 4 5 | 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 | 13 14 15 16 17 ...
So -knowing that the pipe splits Sunday from Monday- you have to go back from that to find out that the 1st of May is actually Wednesday.
We could prepend a couple of empty squares, or simply put the days of the previous month, ie. 29 30 1 2 3 4 5 | 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 | 13 14 15 16 17 ...

it was remarked before that the calendar should have not only a neutral language and cultural outlook but as it is planned now it would serve eternal purposes. If we would follow You really good idea it would not be ready for use 2014, as the days shift. But if the community perfer it that way we could still change it.

The end of the week is already marked with the dotted vertical bars as well as the week number. More year-locality isn't added by what I proposed. Plus all the months are preceded by the same days of the previous month every year. Except on leap-years, but this calendar doesn't include Feb 29th anyway.
