Hi Maarten,
The template used by every file part in the competition. It requires
a country code as a parameter. Based on this country code a category and a logo is set.
Is this parameter automatically set by the upload wizard in some way? Could we add an optional parameter for the next regional sub-entity? (don't know what other countries use here, for Germany it would be i.e. DE-NW (North Rhine-Westfalia) or DE-BE (Berlin) That could help greatly with a finer-granulated categorization.
Could we - independent of that - please motivate people with a short help text in the wizard to name their images as exact as possible with a suggested structure? (i.e. city + object/address) - sorting stuff in the respective subcats will be a painful monkey work anyway ;-)
Thx + regards, elya
Hello,
I discussed that once with Lodewijk, I suggested the http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gemeindeschl%C3%BCssel Amtlicher Gemeindeschlüssel. Just imagined how shocked he was from the long numbers. :-)
03 2 54 021 = Hildesheim
The letters' abbreviation looks nicer.
Kind regards Ziko

If the pictures get a correct monument id, which is a requirement in NL, based on the ID you can automate this, if you also have the database with the locations based on ID. Don't know how it works in germany in that respect?

Andre

Germany is not a royal, but a federal mess. So that's a bit of a challenge to identify and categorize photos.

This is a tracker template for Wiki Loves Monuments and the parameter is to keep track of the national competitions. Categorization shouldn't go deeper. Besides this we have the regular categorization. For Germany we have to add some extra tricks to be able to handle this.

That's what we should ask for if we don't have an unique identifier.
