Hey all,
I was curious, does anyone know how to get a quick overview of all uploads to commons in a given day of photos (excluding vectors etc), that do /not/ have the {{wiki loves monuments}} template?
I'm asking because I just received a note on the helpdesk from an Indian uploader that managed to upload a photo without the template - probably through an alternative uploader or a malfunction. As they say, for each person that finds their way to the helpdesk, there are probably 100 that don't - so it would be nice if we could check the uploads for images that look like they are WLM pictures, but are not tagged as such. That would be the best way to identify bad instructions or pathways :)
Best, Lodewijk
HI Lodewijk:
I've extended a functionality of my WLM tool to show the tool or Campaign used to upload the image (see the data for India https://stats.wikilovesmonuments.cl/2017/india). I've checked a few random images and they have the template, but they haven't a description or another indian template to identify the monument.
Using petscan https://petscan.wmflabs.org/?psid=1255356, there are two images without the WLM template in India.
Regards

Hey Dennis,
Thanks for looking into it. I'm mostly curious about generic uploads (any tool, any method) about buildings (not necessarily categorized as such - but we could exclude portraits, scans etc). I'm looking for people that may have used any upload method, but somehow didn't end up with a template at all. This is for example the situation where some links in a page are mistakenly sending people to the regular uploadwizard and not to the WLM upload campaign.
Best, Lodewijk

Hello Lodewijk
Here is the list of the 13401 images uploaded yesterday that don't include {{Wiki Loves Monuments 2017}} (and were not flagged as bot): https://archivos.wikimedia.es/wikimedia/es/wlm/non-wlm-uploads_20170902.html
For the record, there were 7332 uploads (7451 including bots) that did embed {{Wiki Loves Monuments 2017}} template.
I don't know who would volunteer to review them, but if there's interest, a tool could be done to provide such lists.
Best regards
Thanks. I removed about 1/3 of the images based on large series, and created a gallery to browse through: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Effeietsanders/scratch
I'll browse a bit through it tomorrow to see if anything jumps out.

OK, went through ~1/3 of that list. Quite boring :)
I found mostly users from France and Germany that uploaded images from monumental buildings but that did not participate with WLM. Some from Spain. May be worth the effort to ask them if they're aware of the competition, and whether they are trying to participate. They upload typically quite a lot of photos, and are not newcomers. That leads me to the impression that even if they are trying to participate, they are probably not following recommended processes.

Hi!
This is relevant only to smallish countries where one language is mostly used and that language is not used anywhere else (like Latvian, Bulgarian, Estonian, ...).
This PetSacn query finds uploads without categories BUT with Latvian description (new uploads at bottom of list): https://petscan.wmflabs.org/?language=commons&project=wikimedia&dept...
To use it for other language, change lv to other language code. You can do it in URL (templates_yes=lv part) or in PetScan under Templates and links.
