Hi,
Someone asked us if photos already on flickr are eligible for participating in the contest (providing they are correctly marked and licensed during the contest). I wanted to know your take on that. I believe that we should allow these pictures as, they will be uploaded to Commons during September by a bot, but Nicu believes we should ask for the pictures to be uploaded during the contest.
Also, do we have a robot for image transfers or is each country responsible for that?
Thanks, Andrei

My reading of the "Uploaded in September" rule is the pictures have to be uploaded to Commons, flickr, and whatever other place is used for submission during September.
It may be accepted, as a compromise, if the picture was uploaded previously to another place and the author uploads it manually to Commons during September.
But English is not my first language, so my reading may not be accurate.

Last year for NL we took the lenient approach, it must be uploaded to commons in september, so being on flickr before, we didn't care about.
Reason for this is that it motivated people to release their pictures already on flickr to a free license, something they might not have done when we were strict.
Also, do we have a robot for image transfers or is each country responsible for that?
I won't comment on the bot, but did you already thought about the flickr-group itself? The system we took was a tag mentioning the monument-id (rm=<id>), and of course released under a free licence. The group has been set moderated and the moderators checked on the free license, and the id being present, so the bot could just transfer all pictures. This worked quite well.

Andre
Hi Andrei,
Last year we also used Flickr. We interpreted it at the time as the moment that the picture was added to the Flickr group - we opened the flickr group on Sept 1 and closed it again on Sept 30. That way we could do the bot part on our ease.

Could somebody tell how to create *and organizate* the Flickr group?. I don't use Flickr usually. How is organized the Flickr group?. What name should it have?, something like "WLM España 2011"?.

Hi Eli,
For NL we have choosen 'Wiki loves monuments 2011 Nederland' as group.
You will need to create an account on flickr. If done, klik on 'groups', then in the right there will be a link to 'create your own group'.

Andre
Hi,
I would like to suggest that if you have specific questions still - akoopal or basvb are usually hanging around on #wikilovesmonuments on freenode irc and might be able to help you in setting up.
Some general tips: * Keep the group moderated - that way you can check the license, tags & other things for each incoming image * Have several group moderators * Take a good look at the 2010 group for NL to see what kind of explanations and FAQ you should prepare * Always prominently link to the commons upload form * Don't accept any images before September 1.
Maybe Multichill can help out with the transferring the images to Wikimedia Commons.

Where is the 2010 group in Flickr?
Ejem..., http://www.flickr.com/groups/wikilovesmonuments/ it's in Dutch!!! :)
Finally we have created the group, http://www.flickr.com/groups/wikilmes/, but we have some questions: * what information should add the participants to the photos?, in what format?. I say this to have useful information to the bot that will upload the photos to Commons * we need help with the bot to upload photos to Commons, who could help with this?
Bye, Elisardo

Yes, last year was all-Dutch. The good old times... ;)
For identification, you could best use something like bic=### where ### should be replaced with the unique identifier. In nl we used rm=### , which you can see in the pictures submitted.
