Hi all,
The following national organizers seem not yet to have confirmed their participation dates for this year: - Algeria - Egypt - Finland - Guinea - Hong Kong - Ireland - Norway - Peru
Please make sure to confirm your participation with dates here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2020/Partici... . This is important, because of the altered timeline this year https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2020/Organise#2020_Timeline .
Looking forward to an exciting competition this year again! Please do share what activities you're taking up this year with other countries - we can all use some inspiration. I saw at least one exciting photography workshop/masterclass that was hosted online (I think it was Romania?), which sounds like an excellent idea! Please create a new thread on this list, and share your ideas or best practices.
Best, Lodewijk
Thanks for notifying,
I updated the missing dates to the commons page.

And ... to be more clear as I answered to the whole list. I updated the missing dates to the commons page for Finnish competition. The rest are still missing.

Apologies, the Irish dates (September, so unchanged) have been added now.
Do we know if Monumental will be in use this year?

All the WLM templates still list September as the focal month, even if some communities have decided on later months (AFAIK, they were just updated by a bot from last year). Should we change them manually? Who will take care that they will be displayed on time?

Hi all,
we confirmed our participation for october this year. We have a deeply impact of covid19 in Perú, so we are going on with care and attention.
Ovruni fixed a little bug on WLM template that we use.
And we are coordinanting with our jury members and some participants of the passed years in order to take care about our process here.
We hope you all are fine,

Dear all,
An update on Hong Kong's situation - as of late August there are still very strict social distancing measures in place. All gatherings of more than 2 people are banned in public places.
While there are ways WLM participants can work without being physcially outside - such as digitising old photos - there are still public health concerns surrounding the contest. Therefore, we are monitoring the social distancing measures imposed by the government. If such measures are not relaxed substantially 2 weeks prior to 1 October, we may need to cancel the contest in Hong Kong.

Hi Michael,
could you add a note to that effect in the table ("conditional that the health situation permits it" or something like that)?
The reasoning seems sane. Note that under current WMF rules, you cannot organize any gathering of people, anyway (the WMF has not yet relaxed these rules and is not transparent on the process when this may happen - unfortunately).

That's probably because we deployed the fix in the evening of Sept 1. Can you check if everything is ok now?

Hi,
Thanks for the updating the text. There is still some wrong years in https://maps.wikilovesmonuments.org/ (least front page refers to 2019). Is it possible update it too? It would be great to have countries with Wikidata list support to front pages quick links too.

Hi all,
I have updated the website here: https://www.wikilovesmonuments.org/wiki-loves-monuments-in-2020/ and here: https://www.wikilovesmonuments.org/participate/
Please note that for many countries, we don't have a national landing page link yet. Please update the list of participating countries with that information.
Jernej: I suggest to start a new thread about this, and link the templates you're concerned about. I know Romaine does a lot of updating in these days, and I'm not sure if this is on his radar - so thanks for keeping an eye out!
Rebecca: same for Monumental, please start a separate thread about that, and ping Pawel.

Hi all,
we confirmed our participation for october this year. We have a deeply impact of covid19 in Perú, so we are going on with care and attention.
Ovruni fixed a little bug on WLM template that we use.
And we are coordinanting with our jury members and some participants of the passed years in order to take care about our process here. We hope you all are fine,

Hi Jernej,
The template (in various languages) that is shown before the photo contest starts in a country is indeed saying it starts in September. This template is *not* country specific and is used for every upload campaign in WLM. The template is just a safety mechanism: it shows users who want to upload that it has not started yet (for example someone is an hour too early). However, in normal circumstances the users do not see this as 1. on the list of countries it has been specified when the contest in an area is, 2. on the landing pages this also has been specified. So I estimate this template as a low priority to fix somehow the name of the month. Also to be aware: it concerns 66 translations that then need to be changed. Perhaps it is better if the line with the month is re-written so it does not say September anymore. If anyone still thinks that mentioning the month September is still too disturbing and wants it to change it to October, this should be done not earlier than 2 September! (Also it needs to be changed back afterwards.)
Greetings, Romaine
